Child of the Cosmos

I once had the energy
Dedicated to this science
This religion of life
Until the cosmic ocean
Swept over me
And left me drained
Of all cares
And strife

I noticed the trees
Offering illusionary Shade
The appeal of nighttime
Flowers still bestowing
Their aroma
And stillness lingering in air

The eternal essence of being
Helped me realize my ego
Was the only thing holding me
A captive to what all fear

Yet to run away and be free
And connect with cosmic ether
Always drew me closer
Kept me near

The freedom of allowing
These moments of stillness
Pass us by
We cry to the wind

When moments come and go
Leave remain stay
Suddenly collide

Without attaching to one

Or leaving the next

We are at one with all eternity

Our head in the lap

Of everlasting rest.
